I got something!

January 2, 2013 069So it did take a bit, but I found something to be thankful for from the betrayal I mentioned last post.

Perspective: In the whole scheme of things, this is not a big deal. It took up a lot of room in my head for a while and felt huge, but with some distance, this issue does not even rank in the top 5 of bad things that have happened in my life. Honestly, it doesn’t rank so high in bad things happening this year.

It’s not that time heals all wounds. But time helps put things in their perspective.

Experience: I know a lot more now. I had a boss once that any time we messed up or something went wrong, she’d say, “Well, it’s a learning experience.” It was said with just the right amount of sarcasm to be funny. But it was also true. I now have a whole new experience to add to my repertoire.

Knowledge: There are some things you just aren’t going to know until you know. There is no way to know people without, well, getting to know them. And so now I know more about some people and that is a gift.

But I also know more about me. I know where I went wrong. And- even better- I know how to avoid repeating the mistakes I made.

So that is THREE things I’m grateful for during what has been a difficult time (Not the most difficult like I said, but let’s not get too far away from the fact that this whole thing has SUCKED.).

Now, my last post was also about the attacks in Paris. And I don’t know a lot there. And it’s disingenuous to say we’re ever going to be thankful for something so awful. But we can be grateful for fathers who find a way to comfort their children. http://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2015/11/19/paris-attacks-suspect-abdelhamid-abaaoud-associates-dnt-todd-tsr.cnn/video/playlists/paris-shootings/
