I’ve Been Quiet

I haven’t been posting as often as I used to. I started a new day job, but I’m not sure that’s it. I think it’s because the things I’m filled with lately aren’t really in the spirit of this space.

And I don’t want to just come here to vent. There’s enough of that. My journalism teacher said we couldn’t write an opinion piece if we didn’t offer some kind of resolution (here’s the problem and here’s what we can do about it…).

I always thought that was applicable to life.

So if I go off on my opinions of this election or guns or the internet or these people that wear socks and flip flops… I don’t have any good (or new) solutions to offer.

Well, except just stop wearing socks and flip flops. You look ridiculous.

I’m not going to blog on my views on politics or guns or any of it…but it’s why I haven’t been blogging much at all because the news is so filled with these issues and stories, they swamp over my ideas for something lighter or universally meaningful (like being a mom or confused by God).

I am feeling old. I can remember hearing people gripe about the country or the crazies and thinking, “that’s just because you’re old.” So now I find myself wondering, is it really this crazy or am I just getting old?

I don’t know the answer to that either. Though I think things are pretty crazy.

  1. I relate to your comments, Charise. I want my writing to encourage others, to give hope and uplift, and there is so much in the news that breaks my heart every day. It’s hard to know/live the balance sometimes but I try to remember my purpose – encouragement – and stick with that as much as I can. Thanks for sharing your dilemma.
